Congregational Church is pleased to announce the Fifth Annual
Abendmusik Fine Arts Concert Series. Abendmusik is a German word
meaning an evening concert, usually held in a church. There will be
three summer concerts, each followed by a gala reception in the church
Fellowship Hall at which you'll have an opportunity to meet the artists.

July 23, 2011, at 7:30 PM
Lt. Col. T. Shane Tomko USMC, Pianist
and Vocalist, will play the opening concert of the summer,
celebrating the five-year anniversary of the series. Shane Tomko
brought down the house when he played the first concert on the
series’ new 7-foot Schimmel concert grand piano, in 2008. A one-man
musical powerhouse, Shane Tomko has performed for Presidents
Reagan and Clinton, the White House, National Cathedral, and other
venues around the world. Presenting an eclectic range of music,
in the Classical, R & B, and Gospel styles, Shane Tomko will also
include many of his own arrangements and compositions.

Sirens’ Song, Melinda McMahon,
Mezzo-Soprano and Angelynne Hinson, Soprano, present “With a Song
in our Hearts.” Acclaimed for their irresistible, consummate duet
singing, the Sirens will also perform in collaboration with Aliento
Chamber Players, Mary Towse-Beck, piano; Karen Luttik, clarinet; and
Dorothy Braker, violoncello. This beautifully developed choral
bouquet in a lovely chamber setting will feature solo works by
Schubert and Brahms and duet works by the Mendelssohns, Dvorak, and
Beethoven. Splendid midsummer music- please join us!

Paul Dykstra, Concert Pianist, will
conclude the summer series with masterworks by Liszt, Ravel, Chopin,
Bach, and will include Beethoven’s entire “Moonlight” Sonata.
Paul Dykstra is a Canadian born and trained pianist with concert
credits all over North America. Collaborative performances include
touring with Porgy and Bess (NYC Live Arts) in Florida, Trinidad and
St. Louis; world premiere recording of Sonata for Clarinet and Piano
by Seacoast composer Roger Rudenstein (with Richard Stoltzman on
clarinet); and numerous concerts with Cellist, Beth Pearson. A
remarkable pianist, Paul Dykstra is also a performance adjudicator in
both Canada and the United States, and a member of the college of
examiners of the Royal Conservatory of Music.
TICKETS for each of the three summer
concerts are $12 in advance and $15 at the door. Children 12 and
under are free. Tickets are now on sale in the church office and
Sundays after church in the Fellowship Hall. For more information
